Nevada Employment Resource Guide
Project Description:
This project was designed to bring together several data sources that shows employment outcomes for Nevadans with disabilities. It was designed to be a foundation for legislators and policy makers to better understand the plight of employment for those with disabilities, such as the employment rate, unemployment rate, poverty, amount earned per hour, use of social security work incentives, and several other data sets. The Resource Guide would also include national best practices, and a comprehensive list of all agencies in Nevada that provide employment services to persons with disabilities. The goals and objectives were to analyze many databases for the most informative data and compile this into a Guide so that data-based decisions can be made. We had also planned on printing 100 copies for distribution and for sustainability, have the Resource Guide updated annually. The unusual feature is that this Resource Guide is unique to Nevada and the expected benefits are many. For example, we hope that legislators will use the Guide to made data based decisions (i.e., Employment First Policy) which would increase the number of individuals with DD/ID working competitively in the community.
