Victimization of Persons with Disabilities
Project Description:
Individuals with disabilities are disproportionately represented in the population of those who have been victims of crime. A number of related initiatives are designed to reduce crimes against people with disabilities and improve the accessibility and appropriateness of services and supports for crime victims with disabilities. One set of activities is designed to increase individuals' awareness of their vulnerability and help them learn and use strategies for self-protection. Another set of activities seeks to improve the responsiveness of the law enforcement, judicial, and community services/supports system to the needs of victims with a variety of disabilities.
