Project Description:
Project CASCADE (Collaborative Addressing System Change in ASD and other DEvelopmental disabilities) is a three-year grant awarded in 2011 to the Autism Society of Colorado (ASC) by the DHHS HRSA MCHB for the purpose of improving access to comprehensive, coordinated health care and related services for children and youth with ASD and other developmental disabilities. The grant proposal for the project was based upon the recommendations of the Colorado Autism Commission and was developed at JFK Partners UCEDD/LEND program in collaboration with ASC and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Children with Special Health Care Needs program (CDPHE/CSHCN). Dr. Robinson and other JFK personnel also: a) Lead efforts on development and implementation of health policy, financing, and care coordination among key project participants and statewide collaborators; b) Provide training for healthcare providers; c) Produce content of training for professionals regarding screening, assessment and intervention; e) Produce content for training diverse audiences regarding co-occurring health problems and mental health problems in ASD/DD; f) Ensure infusion of best available evidence in project programs and products; and, g) Oversee program evaluation and monitor project implementation, supporting electronic reporting of HRSA performance measures and preparation of progress reports and continuation applications.
