Project Description:
Purpose:
In collaboration with CYFD ?Department of Health, Family Infant Toddler Program and the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a two day Early Childhood/Domestic Violence Institute will be presented to both the early childhood community and domestic violence programs.
Performance Outcomes:
Ensure that ALL children in New Mexico have equitable access to high quality early care and education programs that enable them to have equitable opportunities for success.
Action:
A two (2) day Summit will be held to have in-depth discussion on Trauma and the Effects on Young Children and their Families. Head Start, PreK, home visiting, child care, Family Infant Toddler (FIT) programs and domestic violence providers will be invited to participate.
Objectives:
1. Invite staff from Head Start, Child Care Centers, PreK, Home Visiting, FIT, and domestic violence providers to a two (2) day Summit.
2. National speakers shall present information on Trauma and the Effects on Young Children and their Families to Directors, Education Coordinators, Early Intervention Specialists, Teachers and Domestic Violence Providers.
3. Include an opportunity for local early childhood staff from different agencies/organizations to network and communicate with each other.
