Project Description:
The Great Lakes LEND Collaborative (GLLC) was established between the LEND programs at University of Illinois - Chicago, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin Madison and Indiana University to identify and examine issues of common interest and enhance networking and training opportunities for our LEND trainees and faculty. Activities include monthly teleconference calls, in person meetings three times a year, exchange trainees and share experiences with other LENDs, hosting an annual regional training event in rotation including community members. The first planned event will focus on Life Course in MCHB training programs. Interactive distance learning opportunities and other technologic modalities will enable trainees to interact with each other in a cost effective way. The second year topic will focus on Autism as a followup to the ACT Early Learn the Signs summit held in Indiana in 2011. The UCEDD from Michigan has expressed interest in obtaining a LEND program and has accepted an offer from the GLLC to mentor Michigan by exchanging visits by faculty and trainees as well as participation in meetings and programs. If successful in applying for a LEND program, Michigan would be invited to join the GLLC.
