Fiscal Year:

Contact Information:
Project Description:
The primary goal of this study is to identify what factors typically developing adolescent females believe contribute to quality social interactions with their peers. Specific research questions include: 1) Are specific interaction components (conversation content, verbal behaviors, nonverbal behaviors, and appearance) related to global impressions of the quality of social interactions as rated by typically developing adolescent females? and 2) How do typically developing adolescent females rate the importance of the specific factors identified by the researchers as contributing to overall quality of social interactions with peers? This study is unique in that perceptions of peers are sought to determine importance of social skills. This study provides information to be used in a social skills curriculum and provides social validity for targeted skills.
