Project Description:
Technical assistance in Autism Supports was designed by highly trained consultants using scientifically research-based information. The consultants who will offer assistance to school teams have been specifically trained to use the methodology outlined by the Idaho Autism team. The Idaho Autism team participated as one of four states in a specialized autism training forum in Denver Colorado in March of 2006. A pilot with two schools was implemented in fiscal year 2007 and modifications to the process were made based on the outcome of the pilot. Approximately 20 students with autism throughout the state will be served. School-based team members will also receive on-going training on specific techniques, curriculum materials, and interventions over the course of the school-year. Consultants with the project will implement a coordinated, integrated system of best practice support imbedded in typical settings that results in positive life outcomes for people who are on the Autism Spectrum.
