1.Tri-State Special Education Law Conference The Center for Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) will assist the Tri-State planning committee to plan and implement the 2011 Tri-State Special Education Law Conference. TAESE will contact presenters, make travel arrangements, communicate with the hotel and establish a contract, prepare conference materials, assist with preparing the agenda/conference materials, provide on-site assistance during the conference, and conduct a conference evaluation. 2.Dispute Resolution in Special Education Training and Professional Development States are responsible for having systems and procedures in place for mediations, complaint investigations, and due process hearings. TAESE will provide conference calls and trainings for SEA staff that are contract mediators, complaint investigators, and due process hearing officers. There will be four conference calls for each group and 1-2 trainings. The calls and trainings will address legal and process issues in each dispute area. The ultimate outcome is to build the capacity of SEA staff and contractors to conduct more efficient and effective mediations, complaint investigations, and due process hearings. 3. Nebraska Related Training Activities TAESE will assist the Nebraska Special Education Office on a variety of training and professional development activities related to their general supervision responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
