Project

Linking Infants and Toddlers in Foster Care with Early Childhood Mental Health Services

Center:
Fiscal Year:

Contact Information:
Project Description:
Although infants and toddlers in the foster care system are significantly at risk for mental health and developmental problems (Kerker & Dore, 2007), they often are not linked to early childhood services. This study aims to research the effectiveness of the CHLA Foster Care Hub in linking children aged birth to 3 who are in foster care with early childhood mental health services. Through a retrospective chart review we will identify variables that predict linkage to services, and barriers that interfere with linkage. The study will result in recommendations to the service system to improve identification of problems and access to mental health services for young children in foster care.
