Writing Our Journey Project
Project Description:
Writing our Journey is a project modeled after a similar project at the Elizabeth Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. The project is comprised of two writing groups, each meeting monthly. One group is designed to encourage family caregivers, especially parents of children with developmental disabilities, to express themselves through writing. The other group is for high school age siblings of people with disabilities and is facilitated by a college-age sibling poet. Group members in both groups meet monthly and are invited to write and share poetry, prose, journal entries, screenplays, song lyrics or any style of writing they enjoy. The group will be expanding to include communication through social media in the near future.
