Project Description:
The Center for Community Economic Development at the School of Community Economic Development (CCEDD) of Southern New Hampshire University was formally announced at The New England Conference for Community Economic Development and Disability in May 2003. As a strategic partner in the University of New Hampshire-Institute on Disability/University Center of Excellence and Disability(UNH-IOD/UCED), the mission of CCEDD is to advance the social and economic participation of people with disabilities by promoting best practice in CED that includes people with disabilities. The Center leverages infrastructure in the field of community economic development in the form faculty,students, community-based organizations, and intermediaries in the field of CED to serve the interests and needs of people with disabilities. The Center serves as a resource to individuals, families, communities, professionals, researchers and policy-makers in the field of CED and disability. Work is conducted via education, training and technical assistance; policy analysis; applied research; capacity building; and dissemination. Initiatives are targeted in the areas of asset development strategies, financial services, housing, employment, business development, long-term care, and workforce development.
