Project Description:
In 2005, the Oklahoma Legislature passed legislation to implement self-directed services in the home and community-based waiver program. The legislation created a need to develop policies and training in self-directed services. The purpose of this project is to partner with families and self-advocates in the development of Self-Directed Services Training curricula and to identify considerations for policies of Oklahoma self-directed services. This project is funded by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) through a contract with the Oklahoma UCEDD. A feature of the project is connecting with families and people with disabilities in rural communities and urban areas. One anticipated benefit will be increased participation by families and consumers in development of policy and training provided by the DDSD.
