ACS RTC State of the Science: Theories, concepts and evidence guiding knowledge and practice in inclusion, employment and self-determination
Project Description:
A state-of-the-science conference is proposed on the most influential theories, principles and concepts ("big ideas") shaping policy and practices in community supports for persons with ID/DD. A Web-based Delphi methodology will engage experts in identifying and ranking the eight most important ideas in recent decades. For each a comprehensive literature review will summarize the evidence of its effect and validity. The Delphi outcomes and literature reviews will be shared with conference participants who will then discuss how the influence of the ideas, review the research evidence of the validity and impact of each idea, and reach consensus priorities for continuing research on them.
