ACS RTC Evaluation of the Wilderness Inquiry Gateway to Adventure Program
Project Description:
The Gateway to Adventure is a program intended to teach outdoor and wilderness adventure skills to persons with cognitive disabilities. After learning the basic skills of paddling, tenting, outdoor cooking, etc. individuals participate as skillful and included members of Wilderness Inquiry outdoor adventure trips. The evaluation will examine the extent of learning, the effects of learning on trip satisfaction, the effects of learning on non-disabled participants' perceptions of the contributions of individuals with congitive disabilities to the wilderness adventure group, the long-term effects of the skill development and adventure experience on people's on-going recreation and leisure interests and activities, etc.
