Debbie School DEB-Tech Project: Listening, Language & Literacy
Project Description:
The Debbie Institute's DEB-Tech: Listening, Language, and Literacy is designed to help parents, teachers, and caregivers learn how to facilitate early social, emotional, cognitive, language and literacy in infants and young children through developmentally appropriate uses of low-tech and high-tech technology. The program utilizes the core principals of the Creative Curriculum to help teachers, caregivers, and parents understand the impact their behavior has on the development of their children as well as methods developed through the DEB-Tech Project to help teachers, caregivers, and parents utilize technology to facilitate early child development and learning. Activities include classroom support, main session topic workshops, classroom environment assessment, and parent workshops.
The program is open to all parents and addresses the use of technology with typically developing children as well as the unique adaptations that can be applied for children with disabilities and special needs. The population served through this program is parents, teachers, and caregivers enrolled from four (4) child care centers identified through the Early Learning Coalition. This year DEB-Tech Project has impacted 200 children, 60 teachers, and 40 parents.
