Project

Individual Support - Positive Behavior Supports

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2011
Contact Information:
Project Description:
Despite the advancing knowledge base of positive behavior supports (PBS), the focus still remains primarily with supporting PBS initiatives in school systems. This focus, though necessary and beneficial, does not serve to support individuals and their family members in their homes or communities. Additionally, with the focus remaining primarily on school-aged populations, individuals who need positive behavior supports but who are no longer school-aged are not able to access the same type and level of supports. The purpose of this project is to provide individuals with support and technical assistance to be able to better advocate for the services they need in relation to the services they are offered; to be able to serve as an active participant in the supports planning process by being more educated about PBS and the components of effective PBS; and to further the knowledge and capabilities of anyone seeking or participating in PBS.
