Project Description:
The project is designed to support the inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in national and community service (i.e., Americorps). This project is a collaborative effort of Maine's Commission for Community Service and The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies, UCEDD. Project activities include the establishment and support of a cross disability advisory committee to the Maine Commission on Community Service; the development and delivery of professional development for program directors and members, including an annual conference and topical seminars; the development and dissemination of fact sheets for Maine citizens with disabilities about the benefit of national service and related topics; and the recuitment and support of members with disabilities into National Service programs in Maine.
