Accommodation Procedures and Policies for Students with Disabilities in CA Nursing Schools and Programs

Project Description:
The purpose of this study is to conduct a survey of nursing schools pertaining to their disability policies nad procedures for students with disabilities. To date no data exists pertaining to this issue. Survey questionnaires will be sent to nursing school representative who is responsible and/or have oversight for ensuring that students enrolled in the nursing school program have the accommodations needed to participate in the program All 125 California nursing that admit students into Associate, Baccalaureate and Master programs as listed in the CA Board of Registered Nursing website will comprise the sample The questionnaires with the code number of the institution will be sent to nursing school representatives who are responsible and/or have oversight for students with disabilities receive needed accommodations or the designated representatives. The nursing school representative or their designated representatives will be asked to complete the survey questionnaire and return it in a self addressed stamped envelope that will accompany the questionnaire. The self addressed stamped envelope will have the return address of the Principal Investigator. Follow up letters, with a copy of the original cover letter and questionnaire will be sent at 4 and 8 weeks following the mailing of the original correspondence that included the cover letter and survey questionnaire if the survey questionnaire is not received from those institutions that have not responded. A thank you note will be sent to the representatives/individuals who have completed the questionnaire to thank them for their participation in the study. It is anticipated that the questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
