Project Description:
A collaborative co-sponsored by the University of Connecticut LEND program and the Yale Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics program will be assembled to continue the work begun at the Act Early Summit. The goal of the collaborative will be to convene a team of experts from throughout Connecticut to: a) establish sustainable workgroups; b) clarify priority areas; and c) accomplish one task in each priority area by June 2011. At the initial meeting, the team will be joined by stakeholders who were not able to travel for the summit to clarify the activities and tasks developed at the summit and make revisions as necessary. The four activity areas include: 1) awareness; 2) screening and diagnosis; 3) intervention, treatment and outcomes; and 4) advocacy and policy. The members of the collaborative will meet face-to-face on a quarterly basis to review progress, develop consensus, and plan next steps. In addition to the workgroups, which will include families, a parent interest group will meet to support families and serve as a forum for relaying information to their constituencies. Each workgroup will also meet as needed to execute successfully the tasks identified by the group. The group?s initial meeting will be held before mid August with a calendar of future meetings set at that time. The collaborative will be structured to ensure that there is ownership of activities by the various stakeholders involved, thus ensuring continuity and sustainability over time. Further, the UCONN LEND program will include ongoing support of the collaborative in its upcoming five year grant proposal.
