UA-Arizona Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Planning Grant
Project Description:
The purpose of the Arizona Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (AZLEND) planning grant at the University of Arizona (UA) is to construft a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) LEND program to provide trainees the interdisciplinary leadership education and the clinical expertise to become leaders and innovators in the field of autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopment and other developmental disabilities in the state, region and nation. This will be accomplished through: the development of the infrastructure and capacity for implementation of an AZLEND; the development of an interdisciplinary leadership LEND training curriculum that is balanced (didactic, leadership, research) and emphasizes family-centered, cultural competence to enhance early screening, diagnosis, treatment and intervention in autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilties, the establishment of interdisciplinary clinical sites in underserved rural and urban settings to advance trainees clinical skills and enhance the culturally diverse experiences; the development of a plan for the recruitment of a culturally diverse interdisciplinary cohort of long-term trainees for a program of studies which includes didactic, clinical and research preparation in the field of autism and other related disabilities; building collaborative partnerships to support the AZLEND
