Project Description:
The Pacific Basin University Centers for Excellence (PBUCE) is funded through the Hawaii UCE with sites in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) at the Northern Marianas College (NMC) and in American Samoa at the American Samoa Community College (ASCC). The Hawaii UCE supports the PBUCE through governance, technical assistance. and mentorship activities. The Consumer Advisory Council for each site provides direction in planning, implementing and evaluating project activities. The goals and objectives focus on the following need areas: early intervention, assistive technology, interagency coordination, inclusive schools and communities, postsecondary services, emergency preparedness transition/vocational/ employment, and training for special education teachers, related service providers, personal assistants, interpreters for individuals who are deaf, health, housing, transportation, recreation, child-care, and respite care services.
