Project Description:
Project Context.
The national Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) supports State Education Agencies in improving results for children with disabilities. The State Improvement Grants (SIG) are funded to work with the SEAs to improve their systems of professional development, technical assistance, and dissemination of information about best practices.
The recruitment and retention of highly qualified special education staff is a priority goal for improving the outcomes for these children.
Project Focus.
TAESE has established a partnerships with the State Department of Education in Arizona focusing on recruitment and retention of professionals in special education.
The Arizona Center for Professions in Education (ACPE) Cutting Edge Recruitment and Retention Center was established in 2001. It has played a role in placing over 14,000 educators and support staff statewide into school-based careers during the past five years, and built one of the nation's most visited educational recruitment websites, the Arizona Educational Employment Board (AEEB).
The Arizona State Improvement Project provides Information Technology (IT) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) support to the Arizona State Improvement Grant. The SIG support includes development, maintenance, and online support for over six different SIG web hosts in Arizona.
