Project Description:
The Boggs Center initiated the development and continues to provide coordination of the New Jersey Statewide Network on Cultural Competence. Its mission is "to strengthen culturally competent services in the state of New Jersey for people with diverse needs, and to facilitate access by individuals, families, providers, and professionals to these services." In collaboration with Disability Rights New Jersey, The New Jersey State Council on Developmental Disabilities, the UMDNJ Office on Multicultural Affairs, the NJ Division of Disability Services, and others, The Boggs Center coordinated a Latino Community and Disabilities conference in 2004 and a South Asian Community and Disabilities conference in 2007. A conference on the Arab American Community and Disabilities is being planned for December 2011.
