Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center
Project Description:
The Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) works with the 36 existing Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Burn Injury Model Systems research projects around the country. These three types of centers conduct research, identify best practices, and develop clinician and consumer education materials in their focal areas. The goal of MSKTC is to ensure that information and products developed and identified through these centers are of high quality, based on scientifically rigorous research, and disseminated effectively to multiple key stakeholders. The key stakeholders include individuals with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, or burn injuries and their family members; academic and medical professionals; and project staff. The three main aims of MSKTC include (1) enhancing understanding of the quality and relevance of the research being done at the Model Systems research centers through review of research literature and input and collaboration of stakeholders; (2) enhancing the knowledge of medical professionals and consumers about the research findings through a web portal and printed materials; and (3) centralizing resource access by providing a central database and web archive of the resources identified among the work of the centers.
