Project Description:
The Disability Awareness Coalition is a consortium of institutes and community agencies and programs in Northern Nevada that promote the contributions and positive impact of people with diverse abilities and backgrounds. This coalition works together to fundraise and promote events during the months of September, October, and November to celebrate Disability (Employment) Awareness Month. We have been in existence since 2006 and have sponsored a myriad of events over the years, reflected in the yearly Community Calendar. The strong community collaboration over the years makes this a unique project, and the expected benefits are a well-informed community regarding disability issues, services, activities, and events.
