Project Description:
The parenting initiative will provide a much needed service for the mothers in Chicot County by assisting them in facing emotional, societal, financial and interpersonal barriers that would possibly hinder them from participating in their child?s life. The initiative will develop personal goals that will enrich their lives. The programs will include a monthly group session and home visiting component. Together, parents personalize, reinforce and expand upon information presented in the group classes. Handbooks for facilitators are uniformly organized; rationale, objectives, learning activities, supplemental materials and a bibliography are provided for each topic. Participants will be encouraged to remain active in the initiative for a year.
