SOCIAL - Ohio Adult Sibling Conference

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2010
Contact Information:
Project Description:
This project is funded in part by the Ohio Developmental Disability Council. Ohio was the first state to establish a adult sibling conference over 10 years ago. Siblings are often neglected in terms of the information and support that is available to them. Our goal is to provide information and support regarding advocacy, services, and long-term planning. Siblings leave the conference feeling better connected and empowered to play a role in the lives of their brothers and sisters with DD, as well as their families. This event has led to other such statewide efforts in five states and also has spurred the development of the National Sibling Leadership Network.
