Family Needs Assessment

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2003

Project Description:
The Survey of Family Needs was created by the DHS Statewide Advisory Council to gather basic information on services and service gaps through Illinois. The survey was sent out to families and guardians of Illinois citizens with developmental disabilities and 7,300 responses were gathered. The IDHD is analyzing the data and creating topical reports to show how this information can be used as a resource. The purpose of this pilot effort is to create vision and buy-in for future efforts. The hope is to re-survey families on a periodic basis so that planning and policy-making can be more responsive to family needs. In subsequent years, we hope to improve sampling and response rates as well as refine how the survey is designed in order to better meet statewide planning needs.
