Project Description:
The Debbie Institute's Little Explorers Summer Program serves eighty children with developmental disabilities from birth through five years of age in inclusive classrooms with their typically developing peers. The program includes children enrolled in the Early Education Program for children with disabilities and the Auditory/Oral Education Program for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Our Little Explorers Summer Program will provide a unique educational adventure for participating children and their families. Teachers and therapists with experience and expertise will collaborate to help children with developmental disabilities become active participants in the educational process with their typically developing peers. Daily activities will incorporate the ?Little Explorers? theme. Goals and objectives identified on the Individualized Family Service Plan or Individualized Education Plan will target the following domains: communication, cognition, fine motor, gross motor, socialization, and self-help. Activity themes will focus on exploring literacy, music, and art. Family education and participation activities will interface with the educational curriculum.
