Project Description:
The ?Young Warriors? program focuses on supporting and assisting families with young children, birth through eight years of age, who are experiencing challenges as a result of a family member?s deployment or readjustment to civilian life. The program serves military families living in Miami-Dade and Monroe, and family members of military that has served or is serving in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Young Warriors provide counseling services for children and families experiencing difficulties with deployment and/or trauma. The program also provides parenting workshops to assist parents and provide them with coping strategies in relation to feelings of separation secondary to deployment. All services through the Young Warriors program are provided by qualified professionals in the fields of psychology and mental health counseling. This program is being sponsored by the Florida Braive fund at the Dade Community Foundation.
