This project provides continued training, technical assistance and public education efforts that will result in a cadre of families and professionals who will be able to influence family support public policies for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This project addresses the need for systems change in Illinois through a)continued research on consumer-directed family support in Illinois, b)continued development of a strong advocacy group of families, and c)continued support of a state-wide collaborative Task Force on Family Support that provides guidance to DHS. The project will further develop efforts to increase the participation of minority families and and aging family caregivers in the Family Support Network and on the Family Support Task Force through outreach and educational activities.
