Project Description:
The purpose of this study is to learn what reommendations Latino parents have for improving transition services. We are interested in learning whether transition services could be made more culturally sensitive. The parents surveyed are those who participated in the Testing the Transition Preparation Training Program research study. The research team is interested in learning if the workshop that was offered teens who were in the treatment group was effective in helping them compared to teens who did not participate in the workshop. The information gained will be shared with other health professionals who work with teens with spina bifida. This study is designed to learn the ideas that Latino paretns have about health care transition planning for Spanish speaking families. We are also interested in hearing about parent's ideas about what health care professionals can do to improve services for youth who will be leaving pediatric care and whose families speak Spanish. Data will be collected using a 9 item survey.
