Fiscal Year:

Contact Information:
Project Description:
Take a Look at Me? Portfolio was designed at the Institute on Human Development and Disability at the University of Georgia to promote family involvement in early childhood programs. The portfolio is a 20+ page book that is generated by the family to promote a positive view of a child and family by upholding and presenting their strengths, interests, hopes and dreams in written and pictorial form, with a series of open-ended questions and space for the family to elaborate and share information. The goal of this proposal is to collaborate with the Head Start program at the Butler Center in Hall County, Georgia to implement the strengths-based portfolio process in order to determine the impact of the tool as a bridge between the family and teachers to increase family engagement. Both a family and teacher generated portfolio will provide the opportunity for identification of the child?s interests, skills and natural learning opportunities resulting in greater awareness of the child and family?s culture, interests and goals.
