Building Bridges to Inclusion (Core)
Project Description:
IHDD/UCEDD five-year plan prioritizes the following goals: 1) Childcare - increasing the communities capacity to provide inclusive programs and opportunities for friendships for young people with disabilities; 2) Education and Early Intervention - increasing the capacity of early intervention providers to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate services and to provide services to young children living in poverty; 3) Self-Determination - increasing choice and control for people with disabilities in all levels of decision-making and systems change; 4) Quality Assurance - increasing safety and decreasing maltreatment of children and adults with disabilities, improving the quality of life and protection of civil rights of individuals with disabilities who have moved from institutions to the community; 5) Employment - improving competitive employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities; 6) Community Support - increasing inclusion and support for individuals with disabilities through national service and youth programs; 7) Family Support - strengthening the family unit of children and adults with disabilities by identifying appropriate services, promoting positive relationships, and supporting permanent families. All IHDD/UCEDD programs work to achieve these seven goals. Our core funding from ADD assists with general operating and administrative costs as well as funding for our programs that do not recieve sufficient monetary support from any other source.
