Navajo Nation Head Start Program
Project Description:
Navajo Nation Head Start Project
The IHD was recently notified that it was awarded a contract with the Navajo Nation Head Start ( Tuba City Agency) Program. Led by Lynne Corbin, the purpose of the project is to provide timely and effective identification of and intervention for family and staff concerns about any student attending center or home-based services offered through Navajo Head Start. The services provided will take into consideration the individual characteristics, including the resources and needs, of each center as well as those of each child and family serviced. The services provided to children will be developmentally appropriate and evidenced-based using guidelines from the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Zero to Three National Center for Infants Toddlers and Families. The project will also advocate for family-centered, strength-based, and culturally appropriate approaches, curricula, and assessment instruments when working with families and their children.
