Objective 2.6: The BVEP is designed to create work-based learning and employment opportunities for secondary students with disabilities by utilizing and further developing the Youth Transition Program model. TAMU provides technical assistance and training to facilitate schools in developing relationships with community employers; matching students and jobs in order to provide meaningful job experiences that are consistent with student qualifications and interests; and providing students with employment support that promotes self-determination, job satisfaction and job retention. Six secondary schools will become model demonstration sites, and an annual Disability in the Workplace meeting will be held for community employers.
