Project Description:
Youth with disabilities need and deserve the opportunity to be a part of the same clubs and activities as their typical peers - to learn how to make and be a friend, explore future careers, and develop the skills and self confidence to make that future happen. The goal of this project is to encourage systems change in a statewide youth development organization by providing social and youth development opportunities for youth with disabilities that have not had the opportunity for meaningful involvement in community programs because their disability has been viewed as too large a barrier to participation. This will be achieved through the increased capacity of 4-H staff, adult volunteers, and typically developing peers to recruit and support pre-teen and teenaged youth with disabilities in all facets of their standard curriculum
