Project Description:
The Direct Support Professional project consists of training or a foundaiton of knowledge for direct care staff. Training consists of 21 sections: What is a DSP?, Definition of DD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Mental Retardation, Communication, Disability Etiquette, Alternative & Augmentative Communication and Assitive Technology, Relationships & Grief, Person Centered Planning, Sensory Processing, Understanding & Supporting Behavior, Crisis Prevention, Social Understanding & Sexuality Education, Caregiver Abuse, Incident Reporting, Ring of Safety, Ethics of Touch, Service Delivery System, Health & Wellness, and Using Fun and Games to Manage Stress. This training can be provided by staff, community trainers or through the VHS/DVD series.
