Project Description:
The psychosocial programs for the spina bifida center will benefit children with spina bifida and their families. The goals for the program include increasing community involvement, increasing participation in their lives, promoting independence, increasing parental knowledge of spina bifida, and increasing self-advocacy. The program will achieve these goals through planning two primary activities: a community outing that involves parents and children participating in fun activities that promote health and physical activity; a one day conference about spina bifida geared to parents of children with spina bifida, teens and young adults with spina bifida, and professionals who work with people who have spina bifida.
