Interdisciplinary Training
Project Description:
The Interdisciplinary Training & Technical Assistance Program is designed to facilitate training opportunities for graduate interns, PhD interns, high school interns, and new employees. Training is provided via face to face contact and internet programs to students and staff on topics that include: all CDR projects and areas of emphasis, disability definitions and current best practices, person-centered planning, advocacy, etc.
Staff on this project also serves as adjunct faculty in the Master of Social Work graduate department and is responsible for instructing SOWK 756: Social Work and Developmental Disabilities. People with developmental disabilities, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries and staff from local agencies and advocacy organizations serve as consultants and volunteer speakers in this curriculum.
Also required of this program is surveys conducted at 1, 5, and 10 year follow up with students post internship placement to determine his/her course of study, employment, etc.
