Project Description:
        Project Heal is a program for children with developmental disabilities and their parents.  The program targets children 8-12 who have been abused or are at risk for abuse.  The program consists of a sixteen week children's group and collateral parent group.  the topics for the Children's group include:Identification & expression of feelings,Enhancing self-esteem & social skills, Personal boundaries and body rights, Sexual development/sexual education and Personal Safety Skills. The topics for the parent's group include: Acceptance of Disability, Affective Vocabulary, Self-Esteem/Personal Boundaries, Sexual Development/Puberty and Child Abuse.  The goal of the parent group is to provide family support and empowerment.
