Comprehensive Statewide Assessment of the Rehabilitation Needs of Individuals with Disabilities - 2006-07
Project Description:
The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) in cooperation with the State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) is required to conduct a comprehensive statewide assessment of the rehabilitation needs of individuals with disabilities. Utah State University's (USU) Center for Persons with Disabilities (CPD) is assisting USOR in completing the needs assessment during 2006-07. The needs assessment will consist of
1. Town hall meetings at six designated locations around the state;
2. A telephone survey of vocational rehabilitation (VR) counselors to gather their input on how to improve VR services in Utah;
3. A telephone survey of a random sample of closed VR clients to determine their satisfaction with VR services and suggestions for improvement; and
4. A telephone survey of a random sample of current VR clients to determine their satisfaction with services and suggestions for improvement.
During the period January 1 - June 30, 2007:
Town hall meetings were conducted in Logan, Ogden, Price, St. George, Provo, and Salt Lake City. Surveys were completed of VR counselors and both closed and current VR clients. A preliminary report summarizing data collected through May was drafted, submitted to VR staff for review, and revised. As of this writing, data on the complete samples of closed and current clients are being compiled in preparation for writing a final report.
