Project Description:
This project is continuing to review tests to be included in the Estimator software program. The program uses Utah's formula for calculating severe discrepancy when making learning disabilities qualification decisions. The project is also reviewing curriculum material to determine if they are "scientific and research based" for use with low achieving students, as is required by implementing regulations accompanying reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004. Additional information is available at the projects web page, http://sites.cpd.usu.edu/outreach/estimator/. During the January 1 - June 30, 2007 period, Utah's SLD Eligibility Assessment Committee, that guides the work of the project, met monthly to review tests and curriculum materials. In addition, proposed state rules for learning disabilities qualification were reviewed and suggestions for revisions offered.
