Assistive Technology Loan Program for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers
Project Description:
The Technology Loan Program for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers makes assistive technology devices available free of charge to families and service providers of children under five who receive services through the Westchester or Rockland county Departments of Health. The Loan Program has resulted in significant improvement in assistive technology services to infants and toddlers by making technology supports available immediately for short-term trials or for longer-term use. It has resulted in increased knowledge of both service providers and family members by allowing teams to trial a range of technology over time in daily learning, social, play, communication, physical and daily living activities both at home and in school settings. It has resulted in significant cost savings for the departments of health and school districts by allowing families to recycle no-longer-used equipment and to easily return and replace equipment that turns out to be inappropriate for a child.
