Project Description:
Scope of Work 1) Provide opportunities for preschool special education students to improve positive social-emotional skills (including social relationships); acquisition and use of knowledge and skills (including early language/communication early literacy) and use of appropriate behaviours to meet their needs. 2) Extend the SET Preschool Institute to include early child k-3 school personnel and provide professional development to teams of school personnel, including parents. 3) Develop and deliver 6 days of training to five regional teams of individuals, including parents, in which participants will increase their knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in young children as well as specific teaching strategies; modifications to curriculum will also be discussed. 4) Action plans will be developed by each team. Follow-up technical assistance and consultation will be provided to participating regional teams. 5) Project SET will evaluate the outcomes of training and modify subsequent institutes based on this evaluation. Summative data will be provided in an annual report to the New Mexico Public Education Department, Special Education Bureau.
