Disability Arts Festival Accessibility Services
Project Description:
The Great Lakes ADA Center was contacted by the Bodies of Work: The Chicago Festival of Disability Arts and Culture to provide consultation and technical assistance to ensure that the venues and programs offered through the festival are accessible to individuals with disabilities. The work of the Center as it relates to this activity will include:
1)Conducting Accessiblity Surveys of the venue's which will be utilized as part of the 10 day festival.
2)Identify the accessible communication needs of each venue/program and provide recommendations to the committee regarding the forms of accomodation that should be utilized to ensure full communication access to the programs.
3)Participate in training programs to be offered by the Committee for staff of the various venues to be utilized regarding disability awareness, utilization of accessible communication accomodations.
4)Identify entities and individuals who are trained to provide accessible communication accomodations including sign language interpreters, real-time captioners, and audio describers.
5)Coordinate scheduling of accomodations for various activities that are part of the festival.
6)Provide on-site coordination of the identified accomodations during the performances, exhibitions, presentations throughout the 10 days of the festival as needed.
7)Provide consultation on other accessibliity related issues as they arise during the planning and implementation of the festival as needed.
