Perinatal racial disparities: Severe maternal morbidity at the intersection of race and disability

In an analysis of 2004–2022 data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Nationwide Inpatient Sample, Black disabled women had the highest rates of severe maternal morbidity, followed by White women with physical disabilities and Black women without physical disabilities. White women without physical disabilities had the lowest rate of severe maternal morbidity.
