Abstract: using a disability studies lens, this presentation explores the representative tension between wounded white soldiers and soldiers of color in the United States during the Great War. Looking through the lens of a national discourse of rehabilitation, this presentation investigates how rehabilitation often erased the stories, the suffering, and the heroism of veterans of color.
