What is NIRS? in Plain Language

NIRS stands for the National Information and Reporting System. It is a website where all the programs in the AUCD network keep track of their work.

This tool helps our members organize everything they do, such as:

  • Student training programs
  • Past and present projects
  • Creating helpful guides for families

Why Do We Use It?

Our network uses NIRS for a few important reasons:

  • Easy Reporting: The government requires our programs to show what they are doing with their funding. NIRS makes this easy by putting the information in the exact format the government wants to see.
  • Showing Our Impact: AUCD uses the data in NIRS to create a "snapshot" of all the great work happening across the country.
  • Sharing Information: It helps people with disabilities, families, and community leaders find out about the services and research we offer.

The Benefits of Using NIRS

There are many reasons why NIRS is a helpful tool for our members:

It's Free: There is no cost to use NIRS or to store your information for many years.

Ready-to-Use Reports: You can easily print out or download reports with numbers and stories to show how your program is doing.

Help is Available: You can use NIRS all year long, and we have experts ready to help if you have questions.

Get Noticed: Your projects and products are listed on the AUCD website so more people can find your work.

Keep Your History: Your program "owns" its data, so you always have a record of what you’ve accomplished in the past.
