Showcase 2024: A Big Success for Missouri’s Institute for Human Development

The LifeCourse Nexus at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Institute for Human Development hosted its 8th annual Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) Showcase in Kansas City April 22-25. Amazing speakers filled the Showcase including keynote speaker Chris Worth, a CtLC Ambassador/Fellow and a Ph.D. student at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Chris spoke about his journey of self-discovery and expression through outlets such as art. Through his journey, Chris discovered the importance of risk as a positive factor for emerging adults as it gives them room to dream.

On Day Two of the Showcase, attendees heard from keynote speakers, Sheli Reynolds, Director of the LifeCourse Nexus; David Baker, Director of Missouri Assistive Technology; and Marci Straughter, an Ohio Tech Ambassador. Sheli and David talked about elevating technology as an everyday solution for all people. Marci then spoke about the combination of remote supports and everyday technology she uses to add the spice and flavor to her independent life.

During the Innovation Awards luncheon, the Nexus recognized champions who demonstrate the values and principles of the Charting the LifeCourse framework and who have served as catalysts, provided infrastructure, and/or cultivated partnerships that have resulted in innovation and “good lives.” See the list of winners at www.lifecoursetools.com/events/showcase-2024/2024-awardees
